The Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System is a region that stretches over 1,000 kilometers (620 mi) from the tip of the Yucatán Peninsula to the Bay Islands of Honduras. Playa del Carmen (or just Playa for the locals) offers quick and easy access to some of the greatest diving spots worldwide. Home to the second largest barrier reef system in the world. Amazing corals, a tremendous number of fish species, and great visibiltity should put this at the top of your dive list.
Whether it’s your first time or your log book is full, you will enjoy Playa del Carmen’s amazing variety of reefs in both deep and shallow waters.
